Eskom said that while no load shedding was planned for Wednesday, there was a possibility loadshedding could be implemented at short notice due to a high number of unplanned breakdowns.
The power utility said they were currently utilising emergency generation reserves to supplement supply. The generation system remains constrained, vulnerable and unpredictable, Eskom said in its latest statement.
Consumers were urged to note that loadshedding could be implemented at short notice if there is undesirable change in the generation system performance. "We remind South Africans that there is a possibility of increased loadshedding as we are conducting critical maintenance to restore the ageing plant to good health."
Customers were encouraged to continue to use electricity sparingly and to assist in reducing demand by:• Switching off your geysers over peak periods.• Set your swimming pool pump cycle to run twice a day, three hours at a time.
