Ohio State football's Kyle McCord spent the week of his 21st birthday breaking down Notre Dame's defense.
McCord called Notre Dame “our biggest test.” While his quarterback counterpart, Sam Hartman, commands a lot of headlines with his early season play, the defense has earned respect as well.
Linebacker and captain J.D. Bertrand, who recorded 184 tackles over the past two seasons, is expected back after missing the Central Michigan game for concussion symptoms. Starting safety DJ Brown, who missed that game due to a hamstring injury, is also expected back. “There’s really no position where I think they’re weak and they have a bunch of experience,” McCord said. “They’ve been in the system for a couple years now and they’re really well-coached on film. They don’t really have any breakdowns or let guys run free, and they make you earn every yard you get. So I’m excited for it.”
