The 63-year-old member of the Stolen Generations pleaded guilty to forgery after falsely ordering the removal of six children from two families in 2020. The court heard the children remain separated from their families.
A First Nations woman forged documents ordering the removal of children from their families because she was "fed information" that they were at risk, a Queensland court has heard.The woman's lawyer told the court his client had been led to believe the children were "not in a good position"
Despite their unlawful removal, prosecutor Carla Ahern told the court child safety services had not returned the children to their families. "They were not the subject of previous child safety notifications [and] details of present visiting arrangements are contested and not very clear," he said.Woman 'fed information'
"She has obviously suffered herself quite an embarrassment in the community that in itself was hurtful and punishing, because she's been involved so much in the community over the years," he said. The court heard that in January 2020 the woman endorsed a warrant for the arrest of a mother and that the mother's child was subsequently removed from her care.
