No fake permits for event organisers, warns City of Cape Town law enforcements:

The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith, said the City

Events Permit Office has recently been made aware of incidents in which event organisers have been found in possession of fraudulent event permits. This comes after perpetrators were found with an old letter hold. The office found no application was submitted for those events. Smith said that the South African Police Service will also be working to ensure cases are registered against the alleged perpetrators.

“We plea with event patrons to be diligent when buying tickets for events. It is important for event goers to enquire about the legal compliance or whether the event organiser and venue owners are in possession of a proper event permit. Illegal events endanger the lives of patrons as a result of the lack of proper planning, security and crowd management. Officials from the events office are available to assist in verifying the legality of advertised events,” said Alderman Smith.
