The investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie continues, with authorities facing a setback in their search for the missing woman. A DNA profile from gloves found near Guthrie's home yielded no matches in the national CoDIS database. Investigators are exploring alternative leads, including searching commercial genealogy databases, examining gun purchases in the area, and trying to locate Guthrie's heart pacemaker. The FBI is involved in the investigation.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department announced Tuesday that a DNA profile extracted from gloves discovered during the investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie in Arizona yielded no matches when submitted to the Combined DNA Index System (CoDIS), a national database maintained by the FBI .

The DNA profile, taken from the gloves found approximately two miles from Guthrie's home, did not align with any existing profiles in the CoDIS database, meaning the individual who wore the gloves has not been previously arrested and had a DNA sample entered into the system for specific crimes. The gloves, matching those seen on the suspect in Guthrie's Nest doorbell camera footage, were located in a field near a roadside. The FBI, which is leading the investigation, indicated that a total of sixteen gloves were recovered during the search, however, the majority were determined to have been discarded by investigators themselves. Further analysis is also being conducted on additional DNA evidence recovered from Guthrie's home. The Sheriff's Department confirmed that the DNA profile from the gloves does not match the DNA discovered at the residence, adding another layer of complexity to the ongoing investigation into the missing person case. The lack of a CoDIS match necessitates a broader approach, prompting investigators to explore alternative avenues to identify the individual. This includes the use of commercial genealogy databases, which operate independently of the CoDIS system. This is an important step because these databases may contain familial matches that could help identify the suspect. \In related developments, the investigation has expanded to encompass other aspects. CBS News learned that the FBI is actively probing gun purchases within the Tucson area. A local gun store owner reported that an FBI agent recently visited the store, presenting images of individuals and inquiring about gun purchases made within the last year. Details of the number of individuals presented were not fully retained, but the focus on gun sales suggests an investigation into potential access to weapons. Furthermore, investigators are working to locate Guthrie's heart pacemaker, collaborating with the pacemaker's manufacturer and field experts. The disappearance of the pacemaker is a crucial part of this investigation. The Sheriff's Department has also confirmed they are working with Walmart to identify the individual seen in the doorbell camera video carrying a black, 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack, which is sold exclusively at Walmart. This specific detail of the backpack is considered a promising lead in the case by the Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos. The investigation also involves canvassing local businesses, seeking any potential recognition of the suspect from the doorbell camera footage. All these efforts are being utilized to obtain as much information as possible to help in the search for Nancy Guthrie. The Parsons Corporation deployed Bluetooth and Wi-Fi sensors in the search efforts. These sensors are specialized tools designed for search and rescue operations in areas that are challenging. The sensors are meant to provide heat maps to identify the signals in a specific search area. The sensors were used on February 3 in Guthrie's neighborhood as well as in other areas. The search also includes use of a signal sniffer to detect possible signals from Guthrie's pacemaker. The pacemaker app shows a disconnect from her phone at 2:28 AM on February 1, the day she was reported missing. These specific technologies are being utilized in an effort to uncover additional leads in the case
