PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief Gen.
Rodolfo Azurin Jr. on Monday said there was no cover-up or any attempt to derail the investigation of a former police official implicated in the seizure of 990 kilos of shabu in October 2022.Azurin said the findings of the fact-finding group created to look into the allegations of coverup will 'prove wrong the critics' claim that there was an attempt to derail the investigation.
'The reason why I spoke only now is because I want to give the other officials, like Domingo, time to explain their side,' Azurin said.Domingo and Olonan denied protecting Mayo.Azurin decried the naming of high-ranking police officials suspected of involvement in the case.'It's very unfair because we are accusing generals; what is their evidence?' the PNP chief said. 'We really need to observe due process because these are generals that are being accused.
