Tulsa County District Attorney announces that no charges will be filed in the case of a fight at Owasso High School that led to the death of a 16-year-old student. The district attorney states that the fight was a case of mutual combat and there is insufficient evidence to sustain charges.
On Thursday, Tulsa County District Attorney Steven Kunzweiler announced that no charges will be filed against those involved in a fight at Owasso High School. The fight, which took place in a restroom, resulted in the death of 16-year-old Nex Benedict. The district attorney stated that all the individuals involved were under 18 years old and if charges were justified, they would be handled in a juvenile court.
However, based on the investigation conducted by the Owasso Police Department, it was determined that the filing of juvenile charges was not warranted. The district attorney concluded that the fight was a case of mutual combat and there was insufficient evidence to sustain charges beyond a reasonable doubt
