Centrist group No Labels announced on Thursday that it was abandoning its plans to create a third-party presidential ticket in the 2024 election.

FILE - People with the group No Labels hold signs during a rally on Capitol Hill in Washington, July 13, 2013. Centrist group No Labels announced on Thursday that it was abandoning its plans to create a third-party presidential ticket in the 2024 election after it was unable to attract candidates to be on it.

Public opinion polling has found that voters in both parties do not want Trump and Biden at the top of the ticket in November and expressed interest in voting for a third party or independent candidate. Despite interest in voters for something new, the group was unable to find someone to appear on their ticket.

No Labels reportedly approached multiple politicians from both parties, including former Republican Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, Democratic West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin, GOP presidential candidates Nikki Haley and Chris Christie, among others. But they were ultimately unable to find someone with enough name recognition to mount a somewhat credible challenge to the two major parties that dominate American politics.

The decision is likely a relief to Biden’s campaign and other Democrats, who were concerned a No Labels ticket could sap votes away from the president and work out in Trump’s favor.
