PETALING JAYA: Inter-state travel and going back to your 'kampung' (hometown) for a holiday is not advised during the two week movement control order to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

PETALING JAYA: Inter-state travel and going back to your"kampung" for a holiday is not advised during the two week movement control order to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

Universiti Malaya dean of faculty of medicine, Prof Datuk Dr Adeeba Kamarulzaman, said people should stay put wherever they were."The whole idea of this Restricted Movement Order is to... restrict movement... to minimise human contact that can spread the virus. Social distancing is the fancy term for it," she said in a tweet on Tuesday .

He said the decision was made under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 and the Police Act 1967. He added that the prohibition of movement and mass assembly nationwide would include all religious, sports, social and cultural activities.
