CLEVELAND, Ohio — Picking up where he left off last year, Medina quarterback Danny Stoddard threw four touchdown passes and added a scoring run Friday as visiting Medina opened the season with a 48-18 victory over Stow-Munroe Falls.
Stoddard, who threw for more than 5,000 yards and 58 touchdowns in 13 games to earn first-team All-Ohio laurels last year, opened the scoring with a 30-yard TD run in the first period. After a Stow field goal cut the margin to 7-3, Stoddard hit Austin Knowles on a 21-yard scoring strike and Cooper Josefczyk added a 1-yard TD run to make it 21-3 after one quarter.
Stoddard added scoring passes of 10 yards to Brayden Walker, 4 yards to Nathan Angus and then hit Knowles for another score, this time covering 22 yards. Knowles also had a fumble recovery for the Bees. Chris DiPasquale rounded out the scoring for Medina with a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter.
