St. Peter’s Prep, No. 2 in the NJ.com Top 20, dominated the upper weights to take a 44-21 victory over Immaculata during a tri-meet hosted by the Spartans in Somerville. The loss snapped a nine-match win streak for Immaculata, which dropped the team’s record to 12-4. All of the Spartans’ losses have come against Top 20 teams.Immaculata held a 21-20 lead nine bouts in, but SPP pulled away by winning all bouts between 165 and heavyweight. Andrew Verdi took a forfeit at 175 before Carmen Marano pinned William Torres at 190. Julian Contreras added to the lead with a first-period pin over Bryson Lennard at 215, and Domenick Infantes closed the show with a 7-0 decision win at heavyweight over Christian Colon. Giovanni Schinina and Christian Ramirez also picked up pins for the Marauders. John Barron gave SPP their first points with a 15-4 major decision win over Anthony Lopez at 113 and Salvatore Borrometi recorded a 10-0 major decision win at 132 over Derek Sutphen. Nate Keller recorded a pin for the Spartans while Forest Rose opened the match with a 19-4 tech over Ronnie Rodriguez at 106. Grant Thompson earned a 12-3 major over Enzo Triola, Daniel Cabarcas took a 7-1 decision win over Braedan Ruiz at 113 and Rhett Washleski outlasted Anthony Borrometi at 150 for a 9-3 decision win.The Spartans dominated in their other two bouts of the tri. Immaculata made quick work of Montgomery in a 76-6 win that saw pins from Lucas Huntley , Christian Colon , Lennard , Nathan Mcgann , Washleski , Keller , Landan Riddell , Sutphen and Cabarcas .Immaculata rolled in a 68-18 win over North Plainfield. Cabarcas, Lopez, Ryan O’Neill , Sutphen , Riddell, Keller, Washleski, Rose and Conor Blackwelder all won via pin.
