For National Maritime Council spokesman Alexander Lopez , using ''kinetic actions'' against China amid tensions in the West Philippine Sea would not be to the best interest for the Philippines and the region.During a Palace press briefing, Lopez was asked if the Philippine government would do more than just filing diplomatic protests against China following the latest collision incident near Escoda Shoal .
Diplomatic protestLopez also said the Department of Foreign Affairs is already studying the lodging of diplomatic protest following China's latest hostile action.''In any activities naman in the past, our Department of Foreign Affairs would probably file a diplomatic protest or note verbal – and this is seriously being studied by the Department of Foreign Affairs,'' Lopez, former chief of Western Command, said.
