The crash report says police interviewed the bus driver, who told them he felt “something” hit the bus.
A New Jersey Transit bus driver ran a red light before a crash on a busy Jersey City street last week that left a man riding an electric scooter dead, according to a police crash report city officials have so far declined to release to the media.
As of Wednesday morning, Jersey City police and officials had still failed to provide the crash report, a public document, to The Jersey Journal, despite multiple requests. The footage also shows Alva looking at the traffic light, and as it appeared to be red, Alva proceeded north on West Side Avenue when he was struck, the crash report said.
Witnesses told police, according to the report, that bus driver “did not stop upon the point of impact.” The crash report said the bus finally came to a stop at Van Nostrand Avenue, one full block away.
