Nintendo has acquired Dynamo Pictures Inc., a CG animation studio, to focus on making more film and TV adaptations of its popular game franchises.
Nintendo is investing heavily in feature films as they have acquired their own film studio. After years of denying Hollywood the rights to their popular franchise after the disappointing 1993 Super Mario Bros. movie, Nintendo has started to dip its toe into the feature film business once more.
It appears Nintendo will be making more feature film projects as, according to THR, the company has acquired the visual content company Dynamo Pictures Inc. Dynamo makes CG animation for television and video games and also dabbles in motion capture. The deal is expected to close around October at which point Dynamo Pictures will be renamed Nintendo Pictures Co. and become a subsidiary of the company.
