The long-awaited return of a Starbucks store in the heart of downtown Naperville happens at 5 a.m. Friday.
It’s been nearly nine months since Starbucks closed its premium Reserve store at the southwest corner of Main Street and Jefferson Avenue and remodeling work ensued to change it into a traditional Starbucks.Starbucks had been located at 42 W. Jefferson Ave. for many years but in spring 2021, it closed that store and moved to a new spot at 203 S. Main St., where the company opened one of its exclusive Reserve restaurant/stores, serving rare, higher-quality coffees sourced from around the world.
The change initially was met with much ballyhoo amid the COVID-19 pandemic because the Naperville location at that time was only the fourth Starbucks Reserve in the world.In December 2022, a company spokeswoman said the Seattle-based beverage purveyor decided to close the Starbucks Reserve and convert it to a shop with a traditional Starbucks menu.
She said it’s a standard practice for Starbucks to continually evaluate its portfolio to ensure stores are meeting the needs of their customers and communities.
