Follow an unlikely duo on a fantastical adventure in an exclusive Nimona clip. Based on the graphic novel of the same name, the Netflix animated movie centers on the eponymous teenager with the power to shapeshift who finds herself targeted by the knight Ballister Blackheart for assassination, though reluctantly teams up with him to help him clear his name after being accused of killing the queen.
The clip, as seen above, finds Nimona and Ballister struggling to hide from the knights of the Institution while also planning a kidnapping of a figure key to their plan to clear their names with the government. The scene quickly becomes chaotic as Nimona shapeshifts into a demonic young boy while Ballister is recognized by nearly everyone in the crowded town plaza.
No official statement was made as to why the movie was canceled, with writer ND Stevenson and original director Patrick Osborne lamenting the decision. Anonymous Blue Sky staffers did come forward afterward, though, and accuse Disney of shutting down production due to the movie's LGBTQ+ themes, in particular around the time Disney began seeing public criticism for their lack of response to Florida's "Don't Say Gay" bill.
