The NSW government has released its reforms for increasing housing near transport, and will immediately enforce it on the one council that has opposed density.
Already a subscriber?NSW has officially put local councils that oppose more housing on notice, enforcing transport density reforms immediately for the one Sydney-based council that refused to co-operate on increasing housing while rewarding other councils with deferrals.
The increased height limits will immediately go into effect for Ku-ring-gai in well-heeled northern Sydney. It was the– among 13 – flagged by the NSW government for transport density reforms that refused to co-operate on developing local housing plans. Local planning maps of the Ku-ring-gai area show the bulk of land surrounding each of its stations were off-limits for higher density.
“Such interpretations should be viewed as de facto refusal on the basis of height and . They should be viewed as such until councils can demonstrate some patterns to achieve six storeys and 2.5 FSR in those areas.”
