KLANG: The lack of transparency in some aspects of environmental impact assessment (EIA) reporting is making a mockery of the system, says Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.
"Aspects such as soil investigation and social impact investigation reports are referenced but not provided in the EIA nor are they made publicly available," the Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Minister said here on Sunday .
" claim that the EIA report is publicly available but fail to provide the referenced underlying reports for people to view. "This is an absolute mockery, especially after they claim that the report is publicly available," he said during a question-and-answer session at the Climate Justice Forum: Deforestation here.
In addition to the issue above, Nik Nazmi added that his ministry would also be addressing complaints of EIA reports not showing up on the Environment Department website.
