This train hijack thriller is laced with dry humour - and is more imaginative than it sounds
An action-thriller set on a British train should be a contradiction in terms. With strikes, cancellations and delays, “inaction” or perhaps “industrial action” might be the words that more readily spring to the mind. Happily, however, the opening episode of BBC One’sIt was a train version of the plane hijack thriller, of which there have been several of late, including Apple TV+’s.
The hackers had also blocked the train’s mobile signal, Joe borrowing a satellite phone from a fellow passenger, an oil-rig worker, to contact the National Cyber Security Centre . Keeping with the railway theme, their acting head, Abby Ayrgarth , was on the Gatwick Express as she headed off on holiday – a vacation postponed as Joe and Abby teamed up remotely to try and thwart the “hack-jackers”.
