Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, all age 9, were killed on March 27, 2023 when shooter Audrey Hale opened fire at the school, also taking the lives of three staff members.
have issued letters to the Court as the legal battle for the release of writings left behind by the mass shooter continues.
The declaration goes on to add how some media outlets have robbed the Kinney family of privacy in an effort to gain information. Kinney says of those calling for the release of the writings in court "clearly care nothing about the wellbeing of their fellow humans seek to rob the six murder victims of dignity in their deaths by demanding the release of sensitive details of a very active and ongoing police investigation...
The declaration goes on to support the belief a release of the writings could create a copycat, stating "As one of the families of going through such deep grieving of losing their loved one after simply dropping her off at school, we hope a more respectful, clear view can truly start to occur to help make a change that does not include releasing volumes of leverage for others planning similar devastation in this nation.
"The assailant’s voice and poisonous writings should not ring out from the dead when six other innocent voices have been silenced," one parent writes. "I fear the release of these writings will give an exact “how to” and influence and encourage other individuals who are deranged and unhinged to copy these violent and senseless acts, and I fear that lightning could strike twice even with my children who have already lived through this nightmare.
