Tuscaloosa police officers were called just before 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023, to Lake Nicol in an area known as The Cliffs. A University of Alabama student died over the weekend after jumping off a cliff at a Tuscaloosa lake.
Authorities on Monday identified the drowning victim as Ifeanyi Chidubem Prince Anyoku. He was 18 and from Post Harcourt, Nigeria.were dispatched about 5 p.m. Friday to an area of Lake Nicol known as The Cliffs.Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Capt. Jack Kennedy said multiple witnesses told investigators that Anyoku had jumped feet first from the cliffs into the water.Kennedy said no foul play is suspected and Anyoku’s death appears to be accidental.
