An American soldier was just days away from returning home to her family when she was killed in a military strike on Kuwait.

An American soldier was just days away from returning home to her husband and children when she was killed in a military strike in the Middle East last weekend.on Sunday during an unmanned aircraft system attack on Port Shuaiba, a key logistics hub used by U.

S. forces in Kuwait, according to the U.S. Department of Defense. Three other Army Reserve soldiers were also killed in the attack.Speaking to the CBS News, Amor's husband Joey said:"She was almost home. You don't go to Kuwait thinking something's going to happen, and for her to be one of the first – it hurts."on Iranian military and strategic targets early Saturday. Officials said it was a preemptive operation targeting the country's nuclear capabilities, and Iran's Supreme Leaderthat Iran would be hit"with a force that has never seen before" if they carried out a threat to launch"the most devastating offensive operation in the history of Iran's armed forces."Joey told CBS News that he had last spoken to his wife two hours before she was killed, and that she"just never responded in the morning." He said that a week before the drone attack, Amor was moved off-base to a building that had no defenses."They were dispersing because they were in fear that the base they were on was going to get attacked and they felt it was safer in smaller groups in separate places," he said. He added that the pair had discussed her long shifts and how she had tripped and fallen the night before her death. Joey also said that his wife was an avid gardener, and enjoyed rollerblading and bicycling with their children. "If you needed anything she would just take care of it for you," he said."She's helped a lot of people through a lot of dark times and brought a lot of light to this world." Amor enlisted in the National Guard in 2005 and later transferred to the Army Reserve, deploying to Kuwait and Iraq in 2019.:"We honor our fallen heroes, who served fearlessly and selflessly in defense of our nation. Their sacrifice, and the sacrifices of their families, will never be forgotten.":"Our nation is kept safe by folks like these—brave men and women who put it all on the line every single day. They represent the heart of America. We will remember their names, their service, and their sacrifice.":"They represent the best of what our country stands for. May God grant their families peace and comfort in their memories. We will never forget them.":"As one nation we grieve for the true American patriots who have made the ultimate sacrifice... Sadly, there will likely be more before it ends. That's the way it is." He added that he"will do everything possible where that won't be the case," and promised that the deaths of soldiers will be"avenged."
