Prime Video officially ordered two seasons of Scarpetta from Blumhouse Television. The mystery thriller is based on the hit books by author Patrica Cornwell, which feature a Chief Medical Examiner named Kay Scarpetta. Kay returns to her former position in Virginia, where complex relationships lurk, both professional and personal. The series boasts an impressive cast which includes Nicole Kidman , Jamie Lee Curtis , and Bobby Cannavale .
Curtis: I have wanted to bring Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta to a screen, with my company, Comet Pictures, for a while. I'm particularly excited that Nicole Kidman will finally bring her to life. I'm also looking forward to playing Nicole's sister as we tell the story with Liz Sarnoff's expert care, leadership, skill, and talent, and I am excited to work again with David as our director.
What This Means For Scarpetta Scarpetta Has A Lot Of Source Material To Pull From There are 27 Scarpetta books, therefore there is a lot of content for the creative team behind the TV series to draw from, so it’s not surprising that Prime Video has ordered two seasons for the series. However, it also speaks to the confidence the studio has in the project, and it hints that they’re in it for the long haul.
