That’s because the Cubs have agreed to a six-year contract extension with Hoerner, according to multiple reports.ESPN’s Jesse Rogers and Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune both reported the deal. Financial details have not yet been reported. BREAKING: The Cubs are in agreement with 2b Nico Hoerner on a 6 year deal, pending a physcial, sources tell ESPN.Hoerner is entering the final year of a three-year extension he had signed with the Cubs, but now will remain with the team through the tail end of his career. Hoerner had a career year in 2025, with a 6.2 WAR and a .297 batting average. He stole 29 bases and drove in 61 RBI’s for the Cubs, helping them to their first playoff appearance since the 2020 season. He also won his second career Gold Glove at second base, further cementing his place as one of the best defensive players in the league.With the agreement, the Cubs now have long-term contracts on the books for Alex Bregman and Dansby Swanson in their outfield, and they also just agreed to a six-year contract with outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong.
