Salford City CEO Nicky Butt has stepped down from his role to focus on coaching opportunities. Despite stepping away, Butt remains a shareholder and board director, committed to the club's growth.
Salford City have confirmed Nicky Butt has stepped down from his role as CEO at the club. The 49-year-old was appointed to the role in October 2022, after taking over from Gary Neville, and will remain an active shareholder and board director despite stepping away from the role. He decided he cannot dedicate sufficient time to the role but will remain committed to growing the club after becoming a co-owner 10 years ago.
Speaking in a statement released by Salford, Butt said: “Whilst I have enjoyed the day-to-day responsibilities of the Chief Executive role and discovered a huge amount about the challenges an EFL club faces away from the football pitch, I have recently realised how much I miss the coaching and development of players, and this has increased my desire to get back into that side of the game.
