The Hibees have agreed terms with Central Coast Mariners and are close to appointing Montgomery as their next boss.
Nick Montgomery is in advanced talks to be the next Hibs manager as reports in Australia have revealed a deal has been agreed to take him to Easter Road.
Record Sport first revealed the Aussie boss was in the running and it's believed other targets, such as Neil Lennon and Stephen Robinson, were considered. Australia manager Graham Arnold claimed he was in the picture too but his assertions he was offered the job was met with bemusement by Easter Road chiefs.
Hibs gave David Gray the reins in the interim after Lee Johnson's sacking and he presided over their dead rubber second leg with Aston Villa and a big win over Aberdeen at the weekend. But behind the scenes the club quickly settled on a shortlist of next permanent managers and now it's claimed Montgomery has won the race. The news comes from Aussie Scout on Twitter who claims a deal has been agreed with Central Coast Mariners - with Montgomery now in talks over personal terms.
