It added: "Icy stretches should become confined to higher ground this afternoon, before temperatures fall below freezing widely this evening.
"This will lead to untreated surfaces left wet by snow melt becoming icy at all levels, with some disruption to travel likely." The PSNI added: "A yellow weather warning remains in place across Northern Ireland this evening [Friday] for ice. Please take extra care on the roads, especially on those which may not have been gritted. Slow down, and leave extra room between you and the vehicle in front."
NI Road Policing and Safety said: "Please take extra care on the roads today especially on those which may not have been gritted. "Clear your windscreen of ice and snow before you set off and remember to slow down and increase the distance between you and the car ahead."
