Lee Johnston had been hoping to return for the Isle of Man TT which gets under way on May 27 with opening practice

The Isle of Man TT will be missing one of road racing's most popular riders in 2024. It has been confirmed that Lee Johnston will sit out the event due to injury.

The 35-year-old from Fermanagh broke his right leg at the Almeria Circuit in Spain, but a recent scan has revealed the recovery is taking longer than Johnston had initially hoped. It will be the second successive year Johnston has missed the TT after last year's injuries at the North West 200. “I’ve been working with some amazing medics and physiotherapists since the crash and I’ve been doing everything possible to get the leg strong enough to race at the TT, but it’s not to be. I go to the TT because I want to win and, these days, everything has to be perfect to get on the podium and that includes fitness.
