Ireland suffered a 2-1 defeat to the Netherlands at home on Sunday night, a result which all but ends their hopes of qualifying for Euro 2024

Lee Carsley is the frontrunner to replace Stephen Kenny as Republic of Ireland manager, with pressure continuing to mount on the Boys in Green boss.

Lennon admits a move onto the international scene is something he would consider - even if it's not his "ideal" scenario. “I’ve spoken to Martin O’Neill and Shaun Maloney about it before and they have good insight into what it all entails. So, I wouldn’t dismiss it, but in an ideal world I would like to come back in with a club side.”

Making the jump from promotion to the Premiership contenders to a struggling international side may not appeal to McKenna right now but he is an up-and-coming manager that the FAI would be wise to consider.
