The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is proposing seat belt warning system requirements for rear seat and front seat passengers to encourage more seat belt usage.

Today, the only requirement when it comes to seat belt warning systems that use visual and audible alerts to encourage seat belt use, is for the driver’s seat.
