The tests will check cholesterol levels with patients asked to take a blood pressure test at a pharmacy

HEALTHIER FOR LONGER: The results will be available online, with help offered to anyone showing early signs of health issues

The NHS will send home blood tests to people aged 40 to 74 in England next spring to help reduce heart disease and obesity and 'ease pressure' on health services. People who receive the Digital NHS health checks will be asked to carry them out at home and then complete an online health questionnaire.

Around 15 million people will be eligible, with roughly one million online checks expected over the next four years. , with the online assessment covering details like weight, height, diet, alcohol intake and exercise levels. The results will be available online, offering help and assistance to anyone showing early signs of health issues like diabetes or heart disease and referrals for medication or weight-loss clinics. The questionnaire will be available via phone, tablet or computer, with the government believing each check would save 20 minutes of NHS time.
