Mitchell Marner scored a power-play goal 43 seconds into overtime and the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the visiting Calgary Flames 5-4 Saturday night.
Marner scored his 12th goal of the season on an assist from William Nylander, who had two goals and three assists. Marner also had an assist to extend his point streak to 22 games, which is already a team record. The Maple Leafs have picked up at least one point in 14 straight games .
Denis Gurianov and Jamie Benn had the regulation goals and Mason Marchment contributed two assists for the Stars, who ended a five-game homestand with their second consecutive overtime victory. Point, who scored in overtime to beat Florida 3-2 in Sunrise, Fla., on Oct. 21, netted from in close in the third, giving him 18 goals and 11 assists in 27 career games against the Atlantic Division foe. Pat Maroon, Mikhail Sergachev and Steven Stamkos potted goals -- extending Stamkos' point streak to 13 games. Cal Foote produced two helpers and Nicholas Paul assisted for his 100th career point.
Hoffman ended Copley's bid for his second NHL shutout when he scored on a slap shot from the top of the right circle to make it 3-1 at 11:41 of the third period. Caufield made it 3-2 with 2:28 left when he threw the puck toward Copley from just above the goal line and it slipped in on the short side. Kempe scored into an empty net to give the Kings a 4-2 lead with 37 seconds left.Sidney Crosby had two goals and an assist as Pittsburgh held off visiting Buffalo for its fifth win in a row.
