NGO secures Covid-19 test reagents for Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: A non-governmental organisation has heard the call from health workers in Sabah and donated supplies of reagents used for Covid-19 testing.

Osimal Foundation chairman Tan Sri Richardf Malanjum said that they managed to secure some stock of the reagents and handed it over to the Sabah Health Department on Wednesday so they can carry out the tests.

This domes after its director Datuk Dr Christina Rundi was reported as saying that that the Kota Kinabalu Health Laboratory could not do any more tests because of a severe shortage of Covid-19 reagents. Malajum, the former Malaysian chief justice, said Osimal Foundation is now trying to secure more reagents from overseas suppliers.

He also said that the foundation is expecting about 1,000 sets of PPE by March 28 and a second batch of supplies consisting of 2,000 pieces of KN95 masks, 5,000 pieces N95 Masks and 2.000 pieces of protective medical garb.He said the funds used to by the supplies were from donors, and would welcome more contributions.

"We are thankful for all the donors who donated generously for the medical supplies for Sabah Hospitals," he said.
