The highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL all have one curious thing in common: no Super Bowl victories, and relatively little postseason success.

On Thursday, the Jacksonville Jaguars agreed to a massive five-year, $275 million extension with quarterback Trevor Lawrence, making him the highest-paid QB in the NFL on a per-year basis alongside Cincinnati Bengals signal-caller Joe Burrow.

Lawrence and Burrow will each get $55 million per season, which is more than any of their peers in the NFL.With Lawrence now at the top of the charts, the highest-paid quarterback list needs some updating. But the most interesting thing about it? Not one of the quarterbacks has a Super Bowl to his name. Here's the updated list:T-1. Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars, $55 million per year.T-1. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals, $55 million per year.3. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions, $53 million per year.4. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers, $52.5 million per year.5. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens, $52 million per year.6. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles, $51 million per year.Three of these quarterbacks have appeared in Super Bowls — Burrow, Goff, and Hurts — but all three lost and haven't been back since. The other quarterbacks have experienced little to no postseason success.Lawrence, the now highest-paid quarterback in the NFL, has one career postseason win in three seasons.Burrow, who's tied with Lawrence at the top, has five career playoff wins in four seasons.Goff, the oldest quarterback on this list, has five career playoff wins in eight seasons.Herbert, who's only played one playoff game in his career, has zero career postseason wins in four seasons and was a part of a 27-point blown lead against Lawrence and the Jags.Jackson, a two-time MVP winner, has just two career playoff wins in six seasons. And Hurts, an MVP runner-up, has two career playoff wins in four seasons. So, the six highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL on a per-year basis have combined to play 29 seasons and win only 15 playoff games.Huh?While I understand it's difficult to find a franchise quarterback in the NFL, and I also understand it's even more difficult to win a Super Bowl, something's not adding up here. There is nothing more important in sports than winning at the highest level, and for some reason, that isn't a leading factor in these massive extensions.Of course, these extensions are banking on future success. But at the same time, it's hard to build a winning team when a quarterback is getting paid more than $50 million a season — especially when that quarterback can't single-handedly take a team to the Super Bowl like Patrick Mahomes. The pressure will be on Lawrence and the rest of these quarterbacks to perform over the next few seasons. If they can't perform, these contracts could turn into real albatrosses sooner rather than later. The quarterbacks remembered as the greatest of all-time are measured not by their career earnings or regular season wins, but by the championship rings in their collection. The six highest-paid quarterbacks in today's NFL have none.
