The move comes mere months after Brown was acquired from the Pittsburgh Steelers in a trade and subsequently signed to a three-year, $50.13 million deal with $30.13 million in fully guaranteed cash.
Sure Brown has his problems. It dates back to last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and ultimately led to the star receiver’s trade to Oakland. Even then, he’s been among the most-productive receivers in NFL history. Brown is averaging 112 receptions for nearly 1,500 yards and 12 touchdowns over the past five seasons.
Seattle finds itself $17.1 million under the salary cap. It also has a major need at wide receiver following the retirement of Doug Baldwin.
