Readers asked: Is the Chargers' Brandon Staley on thin ice? Why don't the RamsNFL have more depth? LATimesklein and JeffMillerLAT have some thoughts.

The Chargers have scored more points in the second quarters this season then in the other three quarters combined. Getting points in the second half is the worst. But why?

Bad Charger coaching. Why didn’t Herbert keep from under his All-Pro center at end of half? How could they not stop Kelce with two main Chiefs receivers out? How could they not plug off Mahomes’ run on the pass rush ? Bad Charger coaching is the reason. To take these in order, 1) I think you’re asking why Justin Herbert didn’t run a QB sneak at the end of the half. Generally speaking, that’s a call that he can make at the line of scrimmage based on the look of the defense.

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce leaves Asante Samuel Jr. in his wake as he turns upfield on a touchdown catch against the Chargers. Doesn’t appear that any of the defensive backs the Chargers either drafted or signed through free agency have done or are capable of doing anything worthwhile, so who is accountable? Is it all on [general manager Tom] Telesco or does Staley also bear responsibility for the choices?I’d argue Derwin James Jr. is pretty good. Asante Samuel Jr. has a chance to be very good. Still too early to conclude that he’s incapable of doing anything worthwhile.

Do you feel that the Chargers will waste another future Hall-of-Fame QB like they did with Dan Fouts, Drew Brees, Philip Rivers and now Justin Herbert? Telesco continually fails to build a complete team. The O-line has been a problem for almost 10 years.By “waste” I assume you mean not win a Super Bowl. I’m going to take a positive approach and say the Chargers will win an NFL title during Justin Herbert’s tenure.
