We’re not saying root for the 49ers, we’re saying root for the Rams to lose.
Week 15 of the 2024 NFL regular season begins with an NFC West game that has huge playoff implications for the Seattle Seahawks, even though they’re not playing in it. The San Francisco 49ers still have a little life in their playoff chase, while the Los Angeles Rams are riding high off an instant classic win over the Buffalo Bills. There are some instances where you have to “root” for a team you dislike to win; welcome to divisional chases.
Of course, the one caveat is the 49ers can’t win out to 9-7 while the Seahawks lose out to 8-8, because then the division title is out of Seattle’s hands. Yes, there are doomsday scenarios where the Rams win out and the Seahawks are either 9-7 or 8-8, which in itself would end Seattle’s season before Week 18. If the 49ers win on Thursday and the Seahawks beat the Packers on Sunday, there are no elimination scenarios for Seattle other than “Lose to the Rams and you’re out.
