The Jets are the center of attention for sports talks shows now in the aftermath of Robert Saleh’s firing. Everyone is trying to figure out who’s responsible for the head coach’s ousting. Is it owner Woody Johnson? Saleh himself? Aaron Rodgers?
Before Saleh lost his job and those questions arose, ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky was already getting some heat for being too soft on Rodgers.On Monday’s episode of “First Take” Shannon Sharpe called Orlovsky a “shill” for the Jets quarterback. Orlovsky appeared to respond on X Tuesday morning. “My job is to give football fans better analysis than ‘this guy sucks,’” he wrote. “I’m going to keep doing that. See you on NFL Live at 4.”
Awful Announcing posted a clip of Orlovsky defending his role on “Get Up” and “First Take,” explaining that his role is to provide analysis, and it’s up to fans to draw their own conclusions.Carter and Sharpe are perhaps looking for for blunt takes and outright criticisms, which is the trend on sports television today.
