It is a quarterback league, and with six being taken early in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft and the first 14 players selected being on the offensive side of the ball, things began to set up well for theWith the 22nd overall selection, the Eagles selected Quinyon Mitchell out of Toledo, making him the first cornerback taken in the first round since they selected Lito Sheppard in 2002.
Mitchell can come in and immediately challenge for playing time next season, either learning to play in the slot in nickel or dime situations or in dime packages. Mitchell will certainly see time on special teams, potentially on the kickoff and punt coverage teams. Mitchell also showed the mentality necessary to play in the NFL and be successful, sharing his approach of running the 40-yard dash during this year’s combine.
The Eagles are also high on the recently reinstated Isaiah Rodgers Sr., who signed a one-year deal after missing the 2023 season for gambling at the Indianapolis Colts facility and placing bets on the Colts. Kelee Ringo, last year’s fourth-round pick, may also be used in dime packages this season.
