The NFL ruled that the six-time Super Bowl champion did not violate offseason work rules by visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich's house while adapting to his new city and team.

"We made an inquiry and determined there was no violation," league spokesman Brian McCarthy confirmed to USA TODAY Sports in an email. "It was a brief personal visit and Tom picked up the playbook."in Tampa while intending to visit Leftwich. The quarterback made light of the misunderstanding on Twitter, also referencing an earlier incident in which he was instructed to leave a closed park amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.
