Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich praises President Trump's agreement with Iran, calling it a realistic foreign policy achievement that avoids appeasement or war. He defends the deal against criticism and highlights coalition-building and pressure tactics.

Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich has publicly praised President Donald Trump 's recent agreement with Iran, framing it as a major foreign policy achievement and a pragmatic alternative to either appeasement or a large-scale military conflict.

In a statement posted to his website, Gingrich commended Trump for assembling a broad international coalition and for leveraging economic and military pressure to bring Iran to the negotiating table. He dismissed widespread criticism of the deal from both political right and left, suggesting many opponents have rejected the agreement without having reviewed its specifics.

Gingrich invoked historic principles of verification, referencing Ronald Reagan's famous advice to 'trust but verify' and Connie Mack's axiom that 'you get what you inspect, not what you expect.

' He argued that ongoing vigilance is necessary because the nature of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is to constantly seek greater influence and flexibility. According to Gingrich, the deal represents a realistic strategy that avoids the perceived pitfalls of the Obama-Biden administration's approach, which he characterized as appeasement, while also preventing the need for a massive ground invasion.

He asserted that Trump effectively used American technological advantages in airpower and intelligence to compel significant concessions from Iran, moving the country far from its previous position. Gingrich further highlighted the importance of coalition-building, noting that numerous nations have joined the United States in a concerted effort to contain the Iranian regime and promote regional stability, even in the face of Iranian attacks.

The agreement itself is designed to end ongoing hostilities and establish a framework for a comprehensive peace deal. Under its terms, Iran has agreed not to pursue nuclear weapons. In return, the United States has committed to pursue sanctions relief and support economic development initiatives as negotiations progress toward a more permanent arrangement
