Nate Kuhlman was killed in a waterskiing accident on October 31 while vacationing on St Lucia. Kuhlman had just married Mariana Garcia Kuhlman on October 28. The couple left for their picturesque honeymoon on the Caribbean island the next day.

Nate was a recent graduate of Franciscan University of Steubenville, and lived with his new wife in the same Ohio town.
