With the Saudi Arabia-led takeover of Newcastle United helping the Magpies in their attempt to steer clear of relegation, one of their players believes the club could soon be on par with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City. SLInt MORE:

Newcastle, like the aforementioned teams, are now under the ownership of a Middle Eastern consortium. Since Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund bought a majority stake in the club in October 2021, the club has progressed significantly.

The signings of Brazil international Bruno Guimaraes from Olympique Lyon, Chris Wood from relegation rivals Burnley, Kieran Trippier, Dan Burn, and Matt Target have all helped Newcastle emerge victorious from eight of their 13 league fixtures contested to date in 2022, and midfielder Jonjo Shelvey insists that this is only the beginning.
