Manchester City became the first big casualty of this season’s Carabao Cup losing 1-0 to Newcastle United on Wednesday evening.
The Citizens, who have made a perfect start in the Premier League, featured a few changes with some players on the fringes handed a run out.
Coach Mikel Arteta rang the changes from the North London derby, as Jorginho, Emile Smith-Rowe, Aaron Ramsdale, Reiss Nelson and Kai Havertz were drafted into the line-up. It was goalless in the first half despite the promising moments the two sides enjoyed in the latter third, as the Blues looked to end a barren run of form in all competitions.
The Foxes raced to the lead on three minutes courtesy of Kasey McAteer and managed to go to the break with the lead intact.
