Newcastle condenó el domingo el abuso discriminatorio que recibieron Bruno Guimarães y Joe Willock tras el controversial encuentro de la Liga Premier ante el Arsenal y que llevó a críticas sobre el nivel del arbitraje en la primera división inglesa.
Willock, de raza negra, resaltó en su cuenta de Instagram los mensajes racistas que recibió tras el el triunfo 1-0 de su equipo el sábado. Willock jugó anteriormente con el Arsenal y ayudó en el gol de Anthony Gordon. Guimarães, un internacional brasileño, también estuvo involucrado en algunos incidentes en el duelo en St. James Park.
“Tristemente esto ha sido prácticamente algo que esta temporada está sucediendo cada semana y el costo en la salud mental de los jugadores es enorme”, advirtió el grupo. Arsenal no ha comentado sobre los mensajes discriminatorias y eligió dirigir su ira a los oficiales de partido.
