Kunda, which means “Love,” was born at the zoo on July 19, just the second time in its 141-year history that the zoo has celebrated a birth among its gorilla troop. The previous birth was Keyembe, a male gorilla born in 2021. Earlier this month, Kunda and the rest of the gorilla troop became international sensations.
