Housing officials and a nationwide non-profit mortgage broker aim to put many of Newark's 6,150 Section 8 voucher recipients into homes of their own

Under an existing federal law that has not been widely used, a new program offered by the non-profit mortgage broker Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of

America will encourage recipients of Section 8 vouchers for rental subsidies to convert them into mortgage subsidies. The program was launched in Newark on July 21.
