Classes will resume at Newark High School after a small fire in the building's math wing on Saturday. No injuries were reported in the blaze.
Newark High School will not have classes Monday or Tuesday after a small fire in a classroom in the building's math wing, Newark City Schools announced Sunday.
The fire was reported in the"F Wing" of the high school Saturday and was contained to one classroom. The fire is believed to have been the result of an electrical issue. While the fire was contained to a singular classroom, there is smoke and water damage in other areas of the F Wing. The district said there was not damage to other wings of the building's campus.
In a message sent to parents on Sunday, Newark schools said classes will resume on Wednesday and classes that had been taking place in the F Wing will be relocated to other parts of the high school's campus. ACT testing has been rescheduled for March 14. Update on yesterday's fire at Newark High School, which was just sent to families. There will be no school for NHS on Monday or Tuesday this week:
