New Zealand’s police force announced today that they are planning a daring mission to retrieve bodies from the White Island
that there is a 50 to 60% chance of future eruptive activity of some sort on Thursday/Friday.
So far, eight people are confirmed to have died on Monday, but several more remain on the island; although technically unaccounted for, they are certainly beyond saving. Understandably, the families of the deceased are clamouring to have the remains of their loved ones back, but since Monday’s paroxysm, conditions have proven to be too dangerous for anyone to return to the island, locate the deceased and retrieve the bodies.
