) - Six government funding bills are soon to be heading to President Joe Biden’s desk to be signed into law to avoid a government shutdown.
Although the bill passed in the Senate, lawmakers still have more work to do. They need to finalize another set of funding bills before March 22 in order to keep the rest of the government funded. According to the New York Times article, of the $654 million allotted to the FBI’s operating budget, lawmakers agreed to cut $622 million of construction money for the bureau’s campus on Redstone Arsenal, which was earmarked years ago by the now retired Senator.
A spokesperson for Senator Katie Britt’s office also sent us this response, “The FBI’s construction at Redstone has already been fully funded through previous appropriations measures.”
